Our Analysis & Ratings

The Kampa Hayling 6 AIR is the inflatable version of the classic Hayling family tent, housing six people in the back room and offering great space for living and hanging out with the family. The tent provides plenty of features and space to house more people for short periods if need be.

Comfort - There’s plenty of living space for a family, and the front porch can be used for cooking or relaxing. The bedroom interior is made from darkened materials to block out the morning sunlight. In windy conditions, the polyester rustle can be pretty loud, though.

Construction - The Hayling 6 AIR has a fully sewn-in groundsheet, and the bedroom is divided by a partition that can be rolled away when not needed. There are two cable entry points for easy access and the front porch is completely open, giving it an ‘outdoors’ feel. We would’ve liked to see better stitching in some areas, but it’s not bad enough that water gets in.

Features - The living room areas have full-length panoramic windows to soak in the camping views, which we really enjoyed, and they each have zip-up curtains, which is great for nighttime. The Hayling 6 AIR has a climate control ventilation system where the low and high-level mesh panels allow good airflow, and the side door has a mesh backing, both to allow air through and to keep insects out. There are also storage pockets for small items in the front wall of the inner tent. The pump is also included!

Size/Weight - At 68.69lbs, it’s quite a heavy tent, but it’s large enough to sleep six comfortably and has plenty of living space, including a built-in front canopy.

Versatility - Setup is quite easy, taking us just over nine minutes, and it easily packs away into the oversized carry bag. However, we definitely recommend that two or more people pitch the tent together, as the arches need to be balanced and pegged down in succession for the tent to stand up. The tent can handle quite terrible rainy weather and winds when pitched correctly, but its weight and packed size make it difficult for short stays or too many location changes.

Overall - The Kampa Hayling 6 AIR is a great option that sets up and packs down relatively quickly and offers great comfort.
