Our Analysis & Ratings
If you’re after a reasonably-sized family tent, Decathlon’s Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 is a good option, as it’s easy to pitch and transport. Its strengths lie in its convenience and ease — it’s small and light — plus, it’s reasonably well built. Despite that, it’s definitely not a high-end tent, but its price reflects this.
Comfort - The tent has two main areas: a living space and a bedroom, although it would be nice if it had a divider for privacy. The tent is great for couples, but as a family tent for four, it’s limited to sleeping in the bedroom as there’s not enough room to move around and store a lot. The living space is light and airy but can be small if you spend time with the family for extended periods.
Construction - The extendable aluminum support strengthens the ceiling without reducing head height, which is great to see. There is a large vent in the back for airflow from the bedroom into the living area. The living area floor is ventilated, which allows wind to whip up under the flysheet, but it does allow heat and condensation to escape from the inside. After rain, the sloping door can cause water to drip inside if not careful, so you may need to bring some towels.
Features - The bedroom has two storage pockets on each side and a few hanging hooks for lights. It is, however, missing some of the high-end finishes and features you would find on a more expensive tent. For example, unlike other tents we reviewed, the bedroom walls aren’t darkened, so light comes through in the mornings. There’s also no mesh door at the front.
Size/Weight - Its size and weight make it easy to store and transport in its carry bag, and it has a small pack size, so it’s easy for family camping trips without needing a large car.
Versatility - The Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 is easy to pitch; just peg down the four corners of the groundsheet, making sure it’s taut, before inflating the three air beams to 7psi. Peg the rest out, string out your guy lines and done — easy enough to pitch with one person. It can only withstand winds up to 35mph.
Overall - The Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 is a great value tent for summer camping for couples or the family.
