Our Analysis & Ratings

Tentipi's Safir 9 is an absolutely premium, top-of-the-market teepee. Beautifully made, very thoughtfully designed, durable, lightweight, spacious and with a bunch of features that make it extremely versatile, it's without a doubt the best tent we reviewed — but it comes at a hefty price.

Comfort - I don't think it's possible to be more comfortable in any tent, ever. 10.17ft tall and 13.38ft in diameter, there's plenty of room, but where it really shines is in its ventilation — mesh openings in the sides and roof keep the tent nice and cool when needed, and it perfectly closes up to heat with a stove or open fire in cold weather.

Construction - You'd struggle to find better construction in this category. Tentipi's Cotpolmex is a polycotton that's engineered to repel water and be wind and UV-resistant, yet still very breathable. It's also much lighter weight than a standard canvas tent, or any really of this size, quality and durability.

Features - We love that every opening on this tent, including the main door, has a mesh covering to keep mosquitoes out. In addition, the roof vent has a really nifty system where you can open or close it from a pulley along the central pole, and there's also an aperture opening in the top mesh section to allow a stove chimney through, while providing a tight fibreglass seal around it. It's also got a lot more ventilation lower down than any tent of this style we reviewed, with mesh windows covered by eaves to avoid rain run-off entering the tent.

Size/Weight - At just over 30lbs, this is a very light tent for its size, quality and durability. In addition, it comes with a compression sack, a consideration offered by none of the other tents we reviewed, and packs down to an incredible 12x29.13in.

Versatility - Because of its ventilation, lightweight and ready-made ability to use with a stove or fire, this is one of the most versatile tents in this category. With some practice it's also very easy to set up, meaning this could conceivably be your go-to for family camping as well as longer-term accommodation.

Overall - Simply the best teepee tent we came across.
