Our Analysis & Ratings
Classed as a hybrid tipi and pyramid shelter, it’s a lightweight and floorless shelter. You can choose to purchase the shelter with or without a stove and it comes in smaller and larger sizes too. Plus, you can choose either brown or green for the tent to blend in where you camp the most.
Comfort - The Redcliff sleeps three with a stove or six without. While it keeps you dry, decently warm and out of the elements, you may have to knock off the snow as it builds up.
Construction - The door is dual-zippered and comes with storm flaps. There is a single vent at the top to help with some ventilation, while the 6-inch sod skirt helps with sealing out drafts. The shelter is durably made and the seams are sealed for weatherproofing and the material means it’s lightweight. It’s not a tipi you would choose for comfortable camping, though. A downside is that the half-liners are positioned, due to the stove, in an area where some moisture and water may seep in.
Features - When purchasing, you can customize the shelter with screens or add a nest for bug protection. There are hanging loops inside to hang gear or clothes.
Size/Weight - Incredibly lightweight at 5lb 3oz, plus more with the stove, the tent has an inner size of 132sqft, perfect for up to 6 people. It’s a great option for backpackers and is incredibly easy to set up in a hurry.
Versatility - The Redcliff is incredibly versatile: use it as a shelter while camping out in the bush in all sorts of weather conditions or under the stars. It handles rough conditions really well but know that it won’t provide you warmth like a proper tent — it does quite well though!
Overall - One of the best backpacking teepee shelters for bush campers.
