Our Analysis & Ratings
The Razor Kayaks X2 High-Pressure Kayak is one of the best inflatable kayaks in 2024. It’s a Tech-Stitch kayak that has a firm floor and sides, so much so that it doesn’t even feel as though you’re in an inflatable kayak. It’s easy and comfortable to paddle with friends for hours at a time and has enough storage to bring everything you need while you’re out on the water.
Performance - The X2’s Tech-Stitch construction makes it feel as though it's a hard-shell kayak. Its longer, narrower shape means it effortlessly glides through the water and tracks very well in a straight line. The smoothness of the hull’s PVC outer means there’s very little friction against the water, and we found it to be very efficient to paddle.
Construction - In the world of tandem kayaks, the Razor X2’s PVC construction is extremely durable with two non-inflatable seats, two footrests and a removable skeg. It has a reinforced bow, firm floor and sides and is longer and narrower than the average kayak.
Setup/Pack Down - The three Halkey-Roberts valves allow for quick inflation, with the seats and footrests easy to clip and thread onto their D-rings. The smooth PVC surfaces allow for easy drying, while deflation is a simple depressing of the valves to let the air out. Like many inflatable kayaks, we found it does need to be folded a particular way to get it back into the bag, but the bag is quite large and roomy, so it’s not too difficult to get back in.
Portability - The Razor X2 is easy to carry, with the kayak and accessories like paddles, pump and life jackets all easily carried on your back. The bag also has wheels if you’re on smooth ground. It is a larger package than some of the cheaper kayaks on our list, but for the quality, it’s relatively portable and lightweight.
Comfort - The seats are firm and provide great support, with the footrests easy to adjust and providing a good surface to push against. There's enough space for two people to stretch out their legs without the kayak being too long to handle, and the firmness of the drop-stitch floor means more of your paddling energy goes into moving the kayak along rather than sinking into a spongy floor, making the paddling experience itself more comfortable.
Overall - With its excellent performance, the X2 High-Pressure is our best 2-person inflatable kayak in the US. It’s hard to go past a kayak that’s so comfortable, easy to set up and pack down, and comes at a reasonable price.
