Our Analysis & Ratings

The Innova Rush 2 (Gumotex Rush 2) is a great touring kayak that is stable, fast and has plenty of storage. The drop-stitch construction allows for stability and speed and has enough storage space for everything you need, including your lunch while on the water. It's also a very good-looking kayak!

Performance (speed, tracking, maneuverability, stability, load handling): 8/10

Speed: The tracking fin and hydrodynamically-shaped bow allow the Rush 2 to cut easily through the water and navigate rivers with speed.

Tracking: Thanks to that fin and hydrodynamically-shaped bow, the kayak stays on course as it moves through the water.

Stability: It has excellent durability and stability on both calm and rough waters, though it's just not the best performer in choppy water due to its length.

Load Handling: Two heavier paddlers with their possessions will quickly reach the load capacity on the Rush 2.

Construction (materials, seams, valve quality, durability and fittings): 6/10

A tough, inflatable kayak with a durable nitrilon, polyester fabric coated on both sides with rubber, material and a firm drop-stitch floor. The footrests have straps on each side so they can't slip away, while the adjustable seats are made from a hard foam material.

The build of the Innova Rush 2's hull comes very close to that of a fixed-hull kayak.

Setup/Pack Down (inflation time, valves, folding, and drying): 8/10

Takes about 8 and a half minutes to inflate, with its three air chambers inflated via push-push valves. It doesn't have a pressure relief valve to protect against overpressure from inflation, though.

The seats and inflatable footrests are placed inside the boat before inflation, and it has a drain hole at the stern. Fits into the backpack without any problems.

Portability (weight, packed size, ease of carrying): 8/10

The Innova Rush 2 packs into a 100L transport bag and only weighs 34lbs for its durable build. The shoulder straps of the bag are also wide, increasing carrying comfort.

It's small enough to throw in the back of the car and comfortable enough to carry short distances to the water.

Comfort (seat support, legroom, fatigue over distance): 9/10

The PE foam seat with backrest makes for comfortable paddling, and there is enough legroom in each of the seating positions, of which there are three variations.

There is a middle cargo net that can hold a 40L backpack, and it thankfully doesn't sag and disturb the rear paddler.

Value for money:

The Innova Rush 2 is a heavy-duty, versatile kayak with great directional stability, good storage space and a comfortable seating setup, making it a great choice for anyone wanting a two-person touring kayak.

Best for:

  • Lakes, rivers and coastal waters

  • Two paddlers wanting genuine touring performance

  • Trips where onboard storage matters

  • Paddlers who value stability and speed over rough-water performance

Overall:

The Innova Rush 2 is a heavy-duty, 2-person inflatable kayak that's very versatile and has great directional stability for lakes, rivers and paddling along coastal waters.
