Our Analysis & Ratings

Teton Sports Sierra Canvas is a well-made, relatively affordable canvas bell tent offering breathable, water-resistant material. If you're specifically after a canvas bell tent this is a really great option, with a huge internal space and large main door — but because it's canvas, it is HEAVY.

Comfort - Can't get much more comfortable than this — this 8-person shelter is almost like a small house. 16ft in diameter, it's easy to walk around in and its extra-large main door means loading camping gear in and out of it is made much easier.

Construction - The Teton Sports Sierra Canvas has waterproof canvas made of natural fibers and stable poles to keep the tent in place. The poles are aluminum, so not the strongest, but at least they're light enough to handle. It is especially well-ventilated with three top vents and four windows, and a mesh screen door keeping bugs out and allowing air to pass through.

Features - Reinforced seams, a weather skirt and leakproof floor dealt well with rainy conditions (note: the optional footprint does not come included). We appreciated the thoughtfully-placed electricity ports - useful if you're running a generator or going to be using it at powered sites/events.

Size/Weight - The 80lbs tent is a heavy one for casual camping - canvas, while durable and good-looking, is extremely heavy. It does give you great shelter for events, big families and longer glamping trips.

Versatility - This is a tent that's both stylish and functional, having a removable floor to choose between a full tent or a canopy. However, because of its weight, we think this is a tent much more suited to event or longer-term use than your standard camping trip.

Overall - A well-made, considered canvas bell tent if weight isn't an issue for you.
